Natural and Bioactive compounds Targeting Inflammation and Allergy: Advances in Molecular Mechanisms, Therapeutics, and Translational Medicine
Submission Abstract:
Chronic inflammation and allergic disorders represent major public health challenges, contributing significantly to morbidity and mortality worldwide. Despite the availability of several therapeutic strategies, many existing anti-inflammatory and anti-allergy agents are associated with limitations such as adverse effects, drug resistance, and suboptimal efficacy in certain patient populations. This thematic issue aims to highlight recent advancements in the discovery, design, and development of both natural and synthetic compounds with potent anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic activities.
The issue will explore diverse molecular mechanisms—including NF-κB, NLRP3 inflammasome, MAPKs, COX-2, cytokine regulation, mast cell stabilization, and histamine receptor modulation—through which these agents exert their effects. It will also encompass emerging delivery strategies (e.g., nanoformulations, prodrugs, transdermal systems), biomarker-guided therapeutic development, and preclinical/clinical evaluations of promising candidates. Particular emphasis will be placed on translational studies that bridge basic research and clinical application.
By providing a platform for original research articles, reviews, and short communications, this special issue will foster interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation in anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic drug development.
