Novel Drug Delivery Therapeutics: Opportunities and Challenges for Combating Diseases
Submission Abstract:
The field of drug delivery therapeutics has undergone significant transformation with the emergence of innovative technologies designed to enhance therapeutic efficacy and patient outcomes. As traditional drug administration methods encounter limitations in terms of efficacy, safety, and patient compliance, novel drug delivery systems offer promising solutions to these challenges. Advancements in drug delivery technologies have introduced several novel systems that aim to address the shortcomings of conventional approaches and to depict better patient compliance with controlled and sustained release of drugs, increased bioavailability and achieved targetability. Various novel drug delivery systems like liposomes, micelles, hydrogels, microemulsions, nanoparticles and transdermal patches have been used for targeted drug delivery and improved therapeutic efficiency. These novel drug delivery systems hold promise for revolutionizing the treatment of various diseases. The integration of advanced drug delivery therapeutics represents a major leap forward in the field of drug discovery and development. However, addressing the associated challenges such as formulation stability, manufacturing complexity, and regulatory hurdles is critical for the successful implementation and widespread adoption of these innovative technologies. Continued research and development in this field are essential for overcoming these obstacles and advancing the future of drug delivery therapeutics. This thematic issue aims to gather novel therapeutic strategies for combating cancer, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. The authors are encouraged to submit their original research and review articles which highlight the use of novel techniques in combating diseases.
