AI-Driven Genomics and Multi-Omics Approaches for Drug Discovery and Precision Medicine
Submission Abstract:
The rapid advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) have opened new avenues in genomics and multi-omics research, providing transformative insights into disease mechanisms, biomarker discovery, and therapeutic strategies. This thematic issue explores the intersection of AI with genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and epigenomics, focusing on how computational intelligence can facilitate data integration and interpretation across diverse biological datasets. Key focus areas include AI-driven models for genomic variant analysis, single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, epigenetic modifications, and systems biology approaches for disease understanding. Contributions will highlight innovations in deep learning, machine learning, and explainable AI (XAI) to enhance predictive modelling for disease diagnostics, risk assessment, and precision medicine. While drug design will be touched upon, the primary emphasis will remain on AI’s role in decoding complex biological data to target a wide range of diseases, including cancer, neurodegenerative disorders, cardiovascular diseases, metabolic syndromes, infectious diseases, and antimicrobial resistance (AMR). By integrating AI with multi-omics data, this issue will provide a comprehensive perspective on how advanced computational techniques are reshaping biomedical research and therapeutic strategies.
