At the moment, there is a serious problem with the widespread contamination of water environments with leftover antibiotics, which has an effect on both the natural environment and people. Therefore, finding suitable techniques for antibiotic degradation is crucial. At the same time, traces of microplastic pollutants were discovered in the water system as a result of the overuse of antibiotics during the past few years due to COVID spikes. Therefore, technology that can get past the obstacles caused by the problem of antibiotic-contaminated water is required. Furthermore, the world is searching for environmentally friendly and sustainable methods of treating water and wastewater, which are crucial for the reuse and recycling of technology that purifies municipal and industrial wastewater. Cutting-edge green technologies can be crucial in this regard. Furthermore, in order to comply with ever-tougher environmental regulations, process integration is typically necessary. This implies that cutting-edge green procedures can be incorporated into conventional ones. Finding the best treatment option at the most affordable price is always the aim. The possible effects of treated wastewater on ecosystems and human health are a significant concern. As a result, the optimization processes need to consider how the wastewater's toxicological characteristics change over time. This thematic issue's goal is to gather creative submissions that address the use of cutting-edge green processes for the treatment of water and wastewater. The Sustainable Development Goals, which are to safeguard the environment and the ecology of our future generations, should eventually be achieved through wastewater treatment as a result of this factor.
