Smart nanoplatforms with endogenous- and exogenous-responsiveness have been developed in biomedical applications, such as pH, redox, enzyme, hypoxia, light, ultrasound, radiation, electricity, magnetism, heat, etc. These smart nanocarriers can be effectively delivered by overcoming various barriers in vivo and achieve stimuli-responsive drug/gene release in targeted tissues, thus realizing the enhanced therapeutic efficacy.
