Submission Abstract:

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) offer a comprehensive global framework for addressing the world’s most pressing challenges, with SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being at the heart of this agenda. It specifically aims to enhance global health outcomes, however its impact spans nearly all objectives. Access to clean water and sanitation, excellent education, gender equality, and diminished inequities are interrelated with health determinants and outcomes. Attaining the Sustainable Development Goals necessitates cohesive policies and intersectoral coordination to tackle the root causes of health inequities and to establish resilient systems capable of confronting global health challenges, such as pandemics and climate change. Health and well-being are fundamental to and indicative of sustainable development, making their advancement essential for global progress. The thematic Issue: The upcoming thematic issue, “Sustainable Healthcare Targeting Good Health and Well-being,” will highlight the role of nurses and healthcare professionals, examining their contributions to care delivery, impacts on patient outcomes, and connections to clinical practice. It will also explore the links between socio-economic challenges and health issues, offering case analyses that underscore the importance of addressing social determinants in achieving sustainable health systems.
